Scope and objectives

The workshop will identify and analyse the emerging challenges that Science, Technology and Innovation Policy needs to address and the way in which policy tools and strategies are being adapter and redefined to meet such challenges. The workshop will address:

• New forms of generating and sharing knowledge and their implications for Policy:

Open Science and its implications. How Is science “opening up”? The scope and reach of “co-creation” and citizen science. International Cooperation through Open Science. Drivers and barriers to Open Science

The OA movement. Modalities and implications.

STI Policy and Digitalization: the effects of digitalization on policy and the effects of policies on digitalization

• Societal challenges and STI policy. International cooperation to address societal challenges. Mission-orientation in Horizon Europe and other OECD countries: its implementation, scope and limits. New innovation policy frames: transformative innovation, policy labs, grassroots policies.

• Assessment and evaluation STI policy. How can evaluation practices adapt to the changes in objectives and focus of STI policy? How can relevant evidence be collected, interpreted and used? The past and future of STI indicators: how can the design and use of indicators adapt to shifting STI policy strategies

• Implications for Public Research Organizations.

• International Science Cooperation

Target audience: Scholars and students of STI Policy, policy makers, research organization managers, researchers interested on policy implications of STI.
